# Spoolfield

> Spoolfield is a Windows app that saves video and audio from nine sites (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, Reddit, Pinterest, Dailymotion and Truth Social) as MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, MP3, M4A or WAV, and converts files the user already has into the same formats. It checks every link before downloading and can convert video to H.264 + AAC so editors, phones and TVs play it.

Spoolfield is sold as a subscription with a free trial. It runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). Downloads and conversions happen on the user's device; files never pass through Spoolfield's servers. Spoolfield is meant for videos the user owns, that are licensed for reuse, or that the user has permission to download. It does not remove DRM.

- Sites: YouTube (videos, Shorts, playlists), TikTok, Instagram (Reels and posts), Facebook (videos and Reels), X (posts with video), Reddit (posts with video), Pinterest (video pins), Dailymotion (videos), Truth Social (posts with video)
- Video: MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM from 144p up to 4320p (8K) when the source has it. MP4 can be converted to H.264 + AAC; MOV is always H.264 + AAC; MKV keeps the site's original streams; WebM uses VP9/AV1 with Opus
- Audio: MP3 at 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps, M4A with the site's original AAC audio, or WAV
- Converter: drop video or audio files onto the app, or choose them from a folder, and convert them to any of the seven formats. The converted copy goes to the Spoolfield folder; the original is never changed. Streams that already fit the new format are repackaged instead of re-encoded
- Batches: paste any number of links; they are checked first, then download one at a time in a queue
- Engine: updates itself daily and retries after updating when a site changes
- AI apps (MCP): with a Pro plan, AI apps that support MCP (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, LM Studio, Windsurf, Cline) can save clips and convert files through Spoolfield. It runs on the user's device and files never pass through Spoolfield's servers. Setup: Spoolfield > Settings > AI apps > click Add next to the AI app (Spoolfield finds Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, LM Studio and Cline on the device and writes the setup for the user), then restart the AI app. For other AI apps: Copy setup for AI apps and paste it into the AI app's MCP settings
- AI apps on the web: with a Pro plan, claude.ai (and other AI apps that add MCP connectors by URL) can connect to https://mcp.spoolfield.com/mcp. Turn on Spoolfield > Settings > AI apps > Allow AI apps on the web, add the connector, then sign in with the email used to buy Spoolfield. Requests go to Spoolfield on the user's device, which must stay open; files are still saved on that device and never pass through Spoolfield's servers
- Platforms: Windows now; Mac and Android planned; no iPhone/iPad version (App Store rules)
- Languages: the app and this site come in English, Thai, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Arabic, Urdu, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Russian, Indonesian, Malay, Vietnamese and Turkish

- Lite (converts files already on your device: video to MP4/MOV/MKV/WebM, audio to MP3/M4A/WAV, images to JPG/PNG/WebP, shrink a file to a size you pick; no downloads from websites, no AI apps): $2.99 per month or $14.99 per year (about $1.25 a month)
- Pro (everything in Lite, plus downloads from 9 sites including whole YouTube playlists, and AI apps): $5.99 per month or $29.99 per year (about $2.50 a month)
- Both plans: up to 3 devices, engine updates, cancel any time
- AI apps (Pro): 30 free AI files a month (files saved or converted by an AI app), then AI credits; failed or cancelled files don't count. Downloads started in the app stay unlimited
- Free trial: 1 day from the first download, up to 3 clips, no card or account
