Save a Reel in 3 steps
- In Instagram, tap Share, then Copy link, or copy the Reel’s address from your browser. Paste it into Spoolfield and click Check links.
- If Spoolfield says “Sign-in required to download”, open Settings, go to Downloads and, under Browser cookies, pick the browser where you’re signed in to Instagram: Firefox, Edge or Chrome.
- Choose MP4, MOV or MP3 and click Download. The file is saved to the Spoolfield folder in Downloads.

Questions
Why does Instagram need me signed in?
Instagram shows many Reels only to signed-in viewers, so downloads often need a sign-in. Spoolfield can use the cookies from Firefox, Edge or Chrome where you’re already signed in. They’re read on your PC and sent only to Instagram, and you can switch Browser cookies back to Off at any time.
Can I save Instagram photos?
Spoolfield saves video and audio. A post with only photos has nothing for it to save, and Spoolfield tells you there’s no video at that link.
Which format should I choose for a Reel?
MP4 plays on almost anything. Choose MOV if you edit in Final Cut or iMovie, or MP3 when you only want the music or voice.
Is it legal to download Instagram Reels?
It depends on the Reel and where you live. Download your own Reels, Reels licensed for reuse, or Reels you have permission to use. Instagram’s terms may also limit downloading.
