- Copy the link from YouTube’s address bar or its Share button, paste it into Spoolfield and click Check links.
- Under Format, choose MP3, then pick a bitrate: 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps.
- Click Download. The MP3 is saved to the Spoolfield folder in Downloads, ready for any player.

Questions
Which bitrate should I pick?
320 kbps sounds closest to the original and makes the biggest files. 192 kbps is plenty for podcasts and talks. A higher bitrate can’t add quality the upload didn’t have, so a 320 kbps file from a poor upload still sounds like that upload.
Can I convert a whole YouTube playlist to MP3?
Yes. Paste a link to any video in the playlist, turn on “Download the whole playlist”, choose MP3 and click Download. Spoolfield saves every track into one folder named after the playlist and downloads them one at a time.
Is Spoolfield free?

Is it legal to download MP3s from YouTube?
It depends on the video and where you live. Download audio you made, audio licensed for reuse (Creative Commons, for example), or audio you have permission to use. YouTube’s terms may also limit downloading. Spoolfield doesn’t remove DRM, so it can’t save paid or protected music.
Does it work on a Mac or a phone?
Not yet. Spoolfield runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). Mac and Android versions are planned.
