- Install Spoolfield and open it.
- Open Settings, go to AI apps and click Add next to your AI app. Spoolfield finds Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, LM Studio and Cline.
- Quit the AI app and open it again, then ask it to save or convert something.

What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI apps use other apps on your device as tools. Spoolfield is one of those tools: the AI app sends a request, and Spoolfield downloads or converts the file on your PC.
Which AI apps work with Spoolfield?
Claude Desktop, Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, LM Studio, Windsurf and Cline. Other apps that support MCP can use “Copy setup for AI apps” in Spoolfield’s settings. With Pro, claude.ai in your browser can connect too.
How much does it cost to use from an AI app?
During the free trial, AI apps share your 3 trial clips. After that, AI apps need Spoolfield Pro, which includes 30 free AI files every month; then each file uses one AI credit. Failed or cancelled files don’t count, and downloads you start in the Spoolfield window stay unlimited.
Does the AI app see my files?
The AI app gets back the file’s name, where it was saved and details like its length. Spoolfield doesn’t upload your files to the AI app or to our servers.
