OpusClip alternative: how Spoolfield compares
OpusClip is a full clipping studio: it finds clips in almost any kind of video, adds B-roll and voice-overs, has an editor and posts to a long list of social networks. Spoolfield does less. It cuts talking videos into captioned Shorts, writes transcripts and converts files, and it tells you the price in credits before every job. If the extra studio tools matter to you, OpusClip is likely the better fit.
Facts about OpusClip come from opus.pro and help.opus.pro, checked on 29 October 2026. Spoolfield isn’t affiliated with OpusClip. Use only videos you own, are licensed to reuse, or have permission to use.

OpusClip counts processing minutes; Spoolfield counts minutes of speech turned into text plus minutes of clips you get back, so the two numbers aren’t the same unit. Prices change, so check OpusClip’s pricing page before you decide.
When OpusClip is the better pick
- Your videos aren’t mostly talking: OpusClip’s ClipAnything also looks at visuals and sound, while Spoolfield finds moments from what is said.
- You want to polish clips in an editor, add B-roll or a voice-over, or dub into another language.
- You want clips posted and scheduled to several networks from one place.
- Your recordings run longer than 3 hours, or they live in Zoom, Riverside or Loom and you want to pull them by link.
- A team needs shared seats and brand templates.
When Spoolfield may suit you better
You know the price first
Every job shows its credits before you press Run, uses only what it made, and costs nothing if it fails or you cancel it.
No watermark on Free
Free clips come out clean at up to 720p, so you can post what you make while you try it.
More than Shorts
The same account writes transcripts and SRT files, burns captions into a full video, converts formats and shrinks files for Discord or email.
Works from your AI app
Connect Claude or Cursor by URL on any plan and ask for clips in the chat; each job still shows its price first.
Questions
Is Spoolfield cheaper than OpusClip?
The first paid plan costs less ($9.99 against $15 a month), but the plans count usage differently, so compare with your own videos. On Spoolfield, 3 Shorts of 30 seconds about one topic from a 60-minute podcast use 63 credits: 60 to turn the speech into text and 3 for the clips.
Can I bring my OpusClip projects over?
There’s no import. Paste the same video link into Spoolfield, or upload the original file, and make the clips again.
Does Spoolfield find viral moments on its own?
Spoolfield looks for the moments where your topic is discussed and ends each clip on a whole sentence, or cuts the exact times you give it. It doesn’t give clips a virality score.
